De Desktop Manager-software die RIM levert om mobieltjes mee te syncen, kunnen alleen samenwerken met een Windows Bluetooth-stack. Dus niet met een Wildcom-, BlueSoleil-, Toshiba-, of wat voor implementatie dan ook. Dit geldt in ieder geval voor de BlackBerry 8900. Je vindt dit in de handleiding en online:
This indicates that you are not using the MS Bluetooth stack but probably some third party one lik WIDCOM. You will have to uninstall the third party driver and use the MS stack to make it work. RIM needs to change this so it supports either the MS stack or the WIDCOMM since most Bluetooth dongles require the WIDCOM stack to provide other profiles. I have a Dell 810 and I HAD to switch to MS SP2 native drivers. Then everything started working just fine. I used the same link already provided in this forum. Backups van Blackberry's worden gemaakt in .ipd-formaat. Het formaat schijnt gepubliceerd te zijn, maar is niet zomaar te lezen: Het is een combinatie van binair en tekst. Met de trial-versie van de ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter kun je vaststellen of een backup-bestand wel of niet ok is.
Het hele protocol lijkt in drie lagen te onderscheiden te zijn, plus belangrijkste functies:
- Windows Bluetooth-stack: Pairing-parameters;
- BlackBerry Device Manager: Beetje onduidelijk. Misschien: Wel/niet automatisch verbinding leggen;
- BlackBerry Desktop Manager: Backuppen plus schema daarvoor.
